📇 Add contacts from your company’s directory

You can add contacts in five ways.

If your organization has opted for Olvid Enterprise with its directory and users and groups Management Console, you can simply add contacts from your organization’s directory, as soon as you are registered and authenticated.

  1. Tap (bottom center), then Directory.

If this button is not displayed, authenticate with your organization’s directory for the first time.

  2. Tap the search box.

The contacts appear. Otherwise re-authenticate with your organization’s directory.

  3. Refine your search, then tap the name of the contact you want to add.

  4. Confirm by Tapping Add to contacts.

    A secure channel is created.

  5. Tap Chat.

You can exchange your first messages.

Authenticate with your organization’s directory

Access to your organization directory is restricted to registered and authenticated users.

Registered users can be recognized by a green shield on their profile photo, indicating that their identities are managed and guaranteed by the corporate directory. Your contacts who are not listed in the directory will not see these green shields.

Only the organization has the power to modify their first name, last name, position and organization. However, you always have the option of creating other profiles independent of the directory.

Users need to register only once initially to see the Directory button and remain authenticated.

The frequency of authentication renewal is defined by a directory administrator.

Unauthenticated users are prompted to authenticate as soon as they attempt to access the directory.

  • On iOS and macOS, Safari should be the default browser for this operation.

You’ll still be able to use Olvid for free, just like any “standard” user.

Here’s how to delete your Identity Provider and exit the directory.

  1. Touch your profile picture, top left, to display a list of all your unmasked profiles.

  2. Touch Manage current profile.

    The “My profile” screen appears.

  3. Touch Modify my ID.

The “Modify my ID” screen appears.

  4. Touch Delete Identity Provider.

  5. Confirm with OK or Cancel.

You can also log back into the directory if its administrator authorizes you to do so. Contact the administrator if necessary.

What happens to you?

  • You can continue to discuss with all your contacts.

  • For group discussions:

    • You are automatically excluded from those managed by the directory. These discussions are then locked.

    • For all others, nothing changes.

  • You will no longer be able to consult the directory or use it to add other directory users to your contacts.

  • Your profile loses the green shield.

  • In your Contacts list  : directory contacts lose their green shield.

  • You lose your Olvid license. You can always activate another license with our Business or In-app purchase offers .

What happens with your directory contacts?

  • In their Contacts  : your green shield disappears.

  • In group discussions managed by the directory, a message “[…] has left the group” is displayed.

What happens to other directory users?

  • You will always appear in the directory until your administrator removes you.

  • Other directory members can always try to contact you, but this won’t work.

  • In any case, it’s best to contact your directory administrator to have you removed from the directory.
